Our client has grown to achieve a leading position in global markets among the energy sector. Strong performance and continued expansion in the China region have resulted in new opportunities within the company, including the need to appoint a high calibre Project CFO for their newly established joint venture near Beijing.

Reporting directly to the General Manager of the joint venture, the job holder will be responsible for supporting the finance team in delivering accurate, timely and quality finance and accounting compliance of their businesses in China.


Core responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the company management to provide value added analysis, financial counsel and make appropriate recommendations to support the company's strategic direction and operational decision-making process;
  • Safeguard the company assets and ensure integrity of the financial processes and reporting by implementing appropriate internal controls within the organization;
  • Responsible for financial activities and reporting, including, but not limited to, monthly, quarterly and yearly finance reports (including PRC GAAP and US GAAP), cash management, construction & operation costs control, financial planning & forecasting and CAPEX analysis;
  • Participate in the process of strategic and annual / periodic operating planning processes and is expected to provide accurate, timely and meaningful financial information to the senior management team;
  • Interface with external auditors to ensure that all statutory requirements are met and that tax returns are filed in accordance with applicable laws and statutes;
  • Establish and maintain local banking relationships (including borrowing and treasury management);
  • Negotiate with government with regard to the annual generation plan, tariff and taxes issues; and
  • Train and build up a talented financial team.


Qualifications:
  • University degree in accounting or finance-related discipline;
  • Qualified accountant with Big 4 training and a minimum of 8 years progressive experience gained in a multinational corporation. Prior exposure in the China market is a must;
  • Solid experience in setting up and maintaining internal control procedures for compliance with SOX;
  • Good working knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and PRC GAAP;
  • An analytical thinker with first class communication skills and strong business acumen;
  • Polished, professional and a team player who is able to work cross-culturally;
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin is a prerequisite; and
  • Willing to travel around the region.
